JS BACH and a DRINK TO JOY
This is a great package of five string quartets. The first four are arrangements of Bach: Inventions III, the famous Invention VIII, Contrapunctus V (an absolute marvel of perfection) and the Dona Nobis Pacem from the B Minor Mass. The last one, A Drink to Joy, is an original composition of mine (and it’s a good 5-6 minutes long) and has no real musical connection to the Bach. Rather, its themes are based on a choral piece called Two Butterflies, which is part of my Emily Dickinson Song Cycle for Choir called For Emily.
